ARTHUR LOUIS BIETERMAN
Arthur Louis Bieterman, the son of Peter T. and Mary E. (Giegerich) Bieterman was born June 14, 1921 in Mannington, West Virginia. He attended school in Mannington and graduated from the Mannington High School. Art served during World War II as a sergeant in the United States Army. After the war, he left the service and moved to Omaha, Nebraska. Art was united in marriage in 1950 to Florence C. Pietryga of Omaha, Nebraska and had three sons. While in Omaha, he worked as a bricklayer and as a business agent for the union. Later, Arthur worked in the Davenport, Iowa area; where he was join in marriage to Doris J. Ellerbroek Bonath in 1975. They spent many years dividing their time between their homes in Sheldon, Iowa and Brooksville, Florida. Doris preceded him in death on July 13, 2003 in Brooksville. Art continued living in both residences until he passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa, reaching the age of 85 years.
Arthur was a member of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 7354 and of the American Legion Post # 145, both of Sheldon, Iowa. Art spent much of his life as an avid sportsman. He was a high school varsity athlete in many sports, a Golden-Glove boxing champion, a hunter and a fisherman, a dedicated Nebraska Husker football fan since the early 1950s, and a regular golfer in the last three decades of his life.
Art leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Steven A. Bieterman of Mesa, Arizona; Michael Bieterman of Redmond, Washington; Jeffrey and his wife, Karen Bieterman, of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, a sister, Patricia Bieterman of Columbus, Ohio; three step-children, Keane Bonath of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Gail J. Bonath and her husband, Michael Stewart, of Grinnell, Iowa; Shawn Bonath Carlson and her husband, David, of College Station, Texas; seven step-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents, four brothers, and a sister.
