ARNOLD M. MUELLER


Arnold M. Mueller, the son of Nicholas J. and Rachel (Gergen) Mueller, was born June 22, 1905 on the family farm near Meyer, Iowa. He received his education in schools in Meyer. He worked as a farm hand in the Northeast, Iowa area. He was called into the service during World War II, serving in the Army from October 7, 1942 until his discharge on May 20, 1943. He returned to Riceville and was employed as a janitor in the Riceville Public School. On October 7, 1967, he was united in marriage to Helen (Dodson) Madsen in Riceville. Upon his retirement the couple moved to Sheldon in November of 1971. His wife preceded him in death on June 7, 1980 in Sheldon. Arnie remained in the family home until moving into the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. He later moved to the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn, Iowa, where he passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, reaching the age of 99 years, 11 months and 16 days.
Arnold leaves to cherish his memory two daughters-in-law, Malinda Madsen of Sheldon, Iowa and Susan Madsen of Currie, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Spencer, Stanton and Shawn Madsen; and four great-grandchildren, Shane; Skyler; Samantha and Seth; he also leaves three brothers, Reynold “Butch” and his wife, Ramona Mueller of Des Moines, Iowa; William Mueller of Prescott Valley, Arizona; and Paul and his wife, Ann Mueller of Chicago, Illinois; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, Stanley and Steven Madsen; a grandson, Stewart Madsen; his parents; seven brothers and sisters, Rosina Durven; Esther Marie Hartogh; Agnes Bees; Carl Mueller; Francis Mueller; Raymond Mueller and Martha Duebner.
